He has been responsible for delivering high profile developments with challenging environmental constraints in Australia and South-East Asia and is active in a range of policy advocacy roles and industry groups. He has developed and sold a number of leading property development and service businesses.
Darren is managing director of Empire Marina Bobbin Head, two time winner of the Australian Marina of the Year and Hall of Fame winner in 2014.

Ioannis Kostopoulos

Bsc in Mathematics & PhD in Computer Engineering and Informatics.
Ioannis Kostopoulos has 20 years of professional experience in the areas of information and communication technologies. He is an active member of different business groups as “CORALLIA” (gi-Cluster), “STRATEGIS”, the Greek maritime ICT cluster and center of excellence, Blue Growth WG of the Achaia Chamber of Commerce, the Greek Tourism Startup Group and others. He participates regularly in Hackathon events like Piraeus Maritime Hackathon 2017, Bluegrowth Hackathon 2017 etc. He is being a mentor of early stage startups in Blue Growth Incubator and Orange Grove Patras Accelerator (supported by the embassy of The Netherlands). He has more than 20 publications in international journals or conferences and a multi-annual presence in scientific or business events as speaker or moderator. He is the CEO and co-founder of SaMMYacht.com.

Jon White

General Manager, The Yacht Harbour Association

Jon has been working in the marine industry for the past 20 years and has been a fanatical boater from the age of 10. Since first venturing out on the River Thames in a kayak Jon has tried, enjoyed and participated in virtually every aspect of boating and water sports both inland and coastal.
He progressed from kayaking to windsurfing in the early 80’s which ultimately led to the RYA recruiting him in 1996 to head the organisation’s windsurfing division. In 2005 he established the Sport Development division of RYA and built development teams to design, resource and deliver participation programmes through sailing clubs and centres throughout the UK. One of the programmes, OnBoard, introduced in excess of 500,000 young people to sailing and windsurfing over a 10 year period. Other programmes included Active Marina which continues to build the competence and confidence of boaters through accredited marinas.
In 2014 Jon was recruited as general manager to The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA), the international members association for the support and development of marinas. He is a member of the ICOMIA Marinas Group and sits on the Global Marina Institute advisory board. Since joining TYHA Jon has built a close working relationship with the Marina Industries Association and partnered with them in the re-development of the Gold Anchor global marina accreditation scheme.

Ioannis Plakiotakis

Former President, New Democracy Party, Member of the Hellenic Parliament

Ioannis Plakiotakis is a member of the Greek Parliament representing the Lasithi constituency. He served as the 9th President of New Democracy party.
He studied Biochemical Engineering and holds two postgraduate degrees. He speaks English and French.
In the municipal elections of 1998, Ioannis Plakiotakis was elected member of the local council of Sitia municipality with the independent list of John Apidianakis. He was first elected as MP in 2004 elections, and has been re-elected in the elections of 2007, 2009, May and June 2012 and January and September of 2015.
During Costas Karamanlis administration, he served as deputy minister of defence in charge of the army infrastructure project, meteorology and military sports (09/2007-10/2009). In 2009, he was appointed head of Maritime and Island Policy Committee for the political party of New Democracy. During Antonis Samaras administration, he served as deputy minister of labour, social security and welfare in charge of the management of the European Social Fund and the Community employment programs (06/2014-01/2015). In February 2015, he was unanimously elected secretary general of New Democracy’s parliamentary group. He was a member of the Standing Parliamentary Committee on Defense and member of the Parliamentary Committee on Production and Trade, Social Affairs and Equality, Youth and Human Rights.
During the period November 2015 to January 2016 he served as transitional president of New Democracy.
Since December 2016, he is a member of the evaluation committee of the candidates for the party lists and also head of Maritime and Island Policy Sector of New Democracy.

Esteban Biondi

Chairman, RecCom PIANC

Esteban L. Biondi has specialized in marina and coastal development consulting services for more than 20 years. He has experience directing engineering and environmental services for resort projects throughout the Caribbean, Latin America, US, Middle East, and East Asia and directed over 100 marina consulting assignments.
He is associate principal at ATM (Applied Technology & Management) –an international engineering and environmental consultancy with a team dedicated to marinas, urban waterfronts and coastal resort development– which he joined in 2002.
He is the chairman of the Recreational Navigation Commission of PIANC (RecCom) and is member of the “Working with Nature” award jury.
He is full member of the Urban Land Institute (the oldest and largest network of cross-disciplinary real estate and land use experts in the world), member of ULI’s Travel Experience & Trends Council, and supports various resilience initiatives of the SouthEast Florida / Caribbean District of ULI.
Esteban L. Biondi holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Universidad Católica Argentina, a Masters of Ocean Engineering from Oregon State University, and has completed a short program at Harvard Graduate School of Design.

 

George Tziallas

Secretary-general for tourism policy and development, Ministry of Tourism

George Tziallas has been the secretary-general for tourism policy and development in the Ministry of Tourism in Greece, since September 2015. He holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece and a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning (M.Sc.) from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, USA.
He has a twenty-five year professional experience in management consulting, specializing in the fields of planning, local and regional development, tourism development and planning, as well as in the management, monitoring and evaluation of EU programmes and projects of the CSFs and NSRF 2007-2013 and 2014-2020 in Greece and the EU.
George has worked in senior positions (general manager, senior expert) in management consulting firms in the private sector for more than twenty years, and was a member of the board of directors of the Hellenic Association of Management Consulting Firms (SESMA).
He has extensive experience in urban/regional planning and in strategic planning and has  participated as expert in the implementation of studies in the fields of local and regional development, tourism development and planning, employment and labor market, economic development, education and training in Greece and abroad.
He has been the project manager/coordinator of large-scale technical assistance projects at national and EU level. He has gained good knowledge of the procedures in the Greek public administration, as well as of the EU Structural Funds context and the EU-funded Operational Programmes. Also, he has very strong experience in operational and strategic design, as well as in business process re-engineering and in ICT projects.

 

Vassilios Mamaloukas

Director, Environmental Protection Engineering

Vassilios Mamaloukas-Frangoulis is an oceanographer born in Athens (1964). In the past he has worked as an oceanographic researcher (UBO / IFREMER) in Brest, France. He published several scientific articles and participated in missions, research projects and oceanographic trips in the Atlantic. He was the youngest scientist who dived with the submersible “Nautile” (at a depth of 6.000 m).
Since 1994 he is the director of the marine environment protection dept. of Environmental Protection Engineering SA, one of the largest private contractors in the Mediterranean. He has conducted the response operations in over 1.600 spills including all the large scale incidents in Greek waters. Recently, he organized and coordinated all the cleanup efforts for the large spill caused by the sinking of M/T Agia Zoni II, which resulted to the quick recovery of the Athens Riviera. He has extended professional experience in preparedness procedures and contingency planning for the oil industry, ports, marinas and offshore facilities.
Considered as one of the top European experts in oil spill response he has participated in a number of research programs centered in the development of innovative environmental technologies. He has presented many lectures on the protection of the marine environment in international conferences.

Christian Pho Duc

Senior Vice President Sales, Torqeedo

Christian Pho Duc has been responsible for sales at Torqeedo GmbH since 2014. He is also a member of the managing board of the German Boat and Shipbuilding Association.
Before joining Torqeedo, Christian had worked for five years in the renewable energy sector as an executive in the thin film solar sector and solar power plant construction.  Prior to that, Christian had worked for 15 years in the semiconductor industry, always at the leading edge of technical innovations. He marketed high-end products for Infineon Technologies, Giesecke & Devrient and Siemens/IBM on the international stage, holding a number of management positions.
Christian holds a degree in physics from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, a master’s degree in semiconductor physics and microelectronics from Cambridge University, UK, and showed an early interest in the market potential of technologies. He undertook research at the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics into high-resolution detectors that today orbit the earth in satellites. At Siemens Semiconductors in the 1990s he and his colleagues launched what were then the most highly integrated memory chips.

Fabiana Maccarini

Research and Development Manager, P&O Marinas

PhD Doctorate in Maritime Geotechnical Engineering (2005), MSc Graduated in Environmental Engineering (1999), Fabiana Maccarini developed an extensive record in ports, marina and waterfront developments, with specific expertise in superyachts facilities.
Since 2009 she is a member of the Recreational Navigation Commission (RecCom) of PIANC, the World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure.
From 2007 to 2009 she worked as development manager in Applied Technology and Management Inc. (ATM), at the Dubai Office, in the Marina and Waterfront Development Section.
From 2010 to 2014 she worked as international business developer at Impresa Pietro Cidonio S.p.A. (IPC), an Italian construction company of commercial ports and touristic marinas.
In 2013 she founded FABMAR, a consulting company specializing on planning, design, development and operation of marinas, maritime hubs and yachting destinations. Among the most important projects, FABMAR served as specialist consultant of the Port Authority of Rome (Italy) for the planning and development of the superyacht marina “Roma Marina Yachting”; and of DP World (Dubai, UAE) for the reconversion and development of Port Rashid as yachting destination and maritime hub (Mina Rashid Marina).
Since 2018 she joined P&O Marinas, a DP World company established to develop world class locations for the mooring of yachts and the hospitality of their owners, captains, guests and the local residents. In P&O Marinas, her role is research and developer manager for the acquisition, development and operation of worldwide yachting destinations within the company’s network.
Fabiana Maccarini has coordinated international publications, holds seminars on marinas and yachting hubs and publishes articles in national and international journals and conferences.

George D. Pateras

President, Hellenic Chamber of Shipping

George D. Pateras, born in London, UK and the father of 3 adult children, is the managing director of Aegeus Shipping S.A. and, since 2016, the president of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping.
He studied engineering and economics and holds a BSc in Marine Engineering from Newcastle University, MS in Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture from MIT and a PhD from Plymouth University.
He is a board member of the Hellenic War Risks Association and the Bahamas Shipowners Association, chairman of the Hellenic Shipping War Risks Insurance S.A., vice-chairman, NATO, PBOS now TG(OS) (2000-) and permanent advisor (AMSCC) of the Hellenic Ministry of Defense.
George D. Pateras has also served as the chairman of the Bahamas Shipowners’ Association (2011-2015) and as a board member of the Hellenic Seamen’s Pension Fund (1984-1993), Olympic Aviation (1991-1993), the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping (1986-2015), the Union of Greek Shipowners (1983-2004), HELMEPA (1996-1998) and BSA representative at the International Chamber of Shipping (2011-2015).

Panos Pappas

LLM, MBA, Public Properties Company

Panos Pappas (b. 1963), attorney-at-law, member of the Piraeus Bar Association, holds a LL.M in Maritime Law and is currently finalising an MBA course. He is also a certified mediator in Greece.
Since 2001 he has been legal consul of the state-owned Public Properties Company S.A. (PPCo), whose objective is to manage and develop the state-owned private property in line with national and economical policy goals and priorities. PPCo, in its current form, is a new company, with new objectives and perspectives, based on the accumulated experience, know-how and expertise.
Due to his maritime background and professional experience, he has been involved to all stages of the privitazation of the major marinas in Greece, such as Marina Zea (2003), Flisvos Marina (2003), Faliro (SEF) Marina (2009), Mytilene Marina (2012) and Vouliagmeni Marina (2012). He is currently a member of the board of directors of the private companies MARINA ZEA S.A. and LAMDA FLISVOS MARINA S.A. and since 2011 has been elected as the treasurer officer of Greek Marinas Association.
He has extended professional experience in the maritime field and corporate matters and he was a member of the board of directors of EPIRUS AEVE (1994-1997), a company that products and sales “feta” cheese. He has participated in several conferences in Greece and abroad.

Martinho Fortunato

CMM, Chair, ICOMIA Marinas Group

Martinho Fortunato CMM is CEO of Marlagos, which owns Marina de Lagos, a 462 berth marina in Algarve, Portugal. He started as manager of the marina in 2000 and since then has managed not only the marina itself but also the commercial area around the marina and the construction, opening and management of a 4* hotel development (Marina Club Suite Hotel – 140 rooms, spa and restaurant). Martinho became a certified marina manager in May 2005, after completing his studies at the Advanced Marina Management School.
Before becoming CEO of Marlagos, Martinho worked in both the marine and tourism industries. He was CEO of Centro Náutico de Algés – The Lisbon Boatyard and CFO and founder of the hotel management company Unlock Boutique Hotels. Martinho was also the president of the Portuguese Marina and Ports Association (APPR) for 6 years and now holds the position of vice-president.
Martinho is the Commodore of the Lagos Sailing Club and a member of the Lagos Tourism Commission and a member of the board of directors of the holding company MSF-Tur.Im, SGPS. The MSF Group has tourism and real estate developments in Portugal and abroad. He is also member of the board of IMCI (International Marine Certification Institute) and chairman of the ICOMIA (International Council of Marine Industry Associations) Marina’s Group.

Jason Ludlow

CEO & Co-founder, Beds on Board

Jason has had a successful career in business management, events & hospitality and now the sharing economy as co-founder and CEO of Beds on Board.
Leaving the IT industry to setup his own corporate events business, Jason successfully sold Event Management Group in 2014, in order to focus on developing Beds on Board, peer-to-peer marketplace that connects guests and owners for amazing stays on boats.
As an RYA Yachtmaster & former RNLI crew member, boating has been an integral part of Jason’s life and bringing new people into boating is a key part of the Beds on Board vision.

Rosemary Pavlatou

Director, A1 Yacht Trade Consortium

Rosemary has been working in the yachting business in Greece for the past 40 years and is shareholder and a director of both A1 Yacht Trade Consortium and BWA Yachting. Her main interests have been in yacht charter but spans agency and yachting legislation. She is responsible for promotion and advertising within the company and writes in the international yachting press making specific efforts to promote Greece and to encourage visitors to the Eastern Mediterranean.
She is an active member of MYBA and is past chair of AYSS, the international yacht agents’ association, which has given her an insight into many aspects of the yachting industry both in Greece and abroad.

Mats Eriksson

VD, Swedish Marine Industries Federation

Mats Eriksson, 56 years old, has been CEO at Sweboat – The Swedish Marine Industry Association since 2008.
Previously he has been vice-president at Berghs School of Communication and marketing manager at Vodafone Sweden.
Profile: Marketing communications and education. Inspired by the US organization NMMA, Mats has initiated a project in Sweden, called ”Discover Boating”. Due to the success of the project, Mats is now chairman for the Grow Boating Committee within ICOMIA. Mats is a member of the ICOMIA Executive Committee.

Kemal Saatcioglu

Consultant, Marina Solutions International

Kemal Saatcioglu was born in Izmir, Turkey on 27.06.1968. He started sailing training at the age of 7 at Istanbul Sailing Club. He was graduated from Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Economics. He later completed his Masters’ Degree on “Management of Maritime Administration” at the Institute of Marine Science and Technology of Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir, Turkey.
He worked on board yachts, sailed national regattas in Turkey as well as international regattas around Europe.
He started his career in marina business at Setur Kusadasi Marina as chief of harbour services. After Kuşadası, he got promoted to his first marina manager position at Setur Cesme Marina. This was followed by Setur Kusadası Marina, Netsel Marmaris Marina and Setur Kalamis & Fenerbahçe marinas.
As of the business development of Setur Marinas, he attended several national and international tenders and took part in developments of several new marinas of Setur.
He was the organiser of the “Aegean Yacht Rally” between 2000-2010.
In February 2011 he became the general manager of Camper & Nicholsons Cesme Marina.
From March 2014 to May 2018 he was the CEO of D-Marin Marinas Group of Dogus Holding.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Marine Tourism Association.
He is married and the father of a son and a daughter.

John Kalogerakis

Dr Kalogerakis was born in Crete in 1957. He received his B.Sc. in Naval Architecture/Engineering, M.Sc. in Production & HR Management & Ph.D. in Applied Robotics from Strathclyde University, Scotland. Since 1982 has worked in a number of managerial positions for national & multinational companies in the UK, the Middle East and Cyprus.
He returned to Greece in 1988 and lectured at the National Technical University of Athens. As a visiting professor to various British & Greek universities, he has given numerous lectures and seminars internationally emphasizing the anthropocentric approach to sustainable corporate development. He has given numerous Management Skills Development seminars in 4 continents.
Since 1993 he has lectured regularly at the Hellenic Management Association on people skills, empowerment, motivation and personal skills development.
The programs offered cover many aspects of soft skill personal development, from leading with emotional intelligence to ethics, managing millennials and leading change.

Willy Fux

Willy Fux has been involved in mountain tourism for 27 years. He started his career in direct customer contact situations, then took different sales & marketing and management positions in mountain destinations (Les Arcs, St. Moritz, Tignes, Val d ’Isère, Flaine). He has worked for tour operators, tourism boards, a ski school and a specialist real estate developer. In 2009, Willy stepped out from in-resort operations to start LHM which conducts industry-specific market and consumer research. His clients include mountain resort operators, local and national tourism boards, tour operators, accommodation businesses and developers, as well as start-ups. He holds a master’s degree from the Chambéry business school and has been a guest lecturer in France (Université de Savoie, INSEEC Chambéry) as well as at MCI in Innsbruck.

Jean-Michel Gaigné

Jean-Michel Gaigné CMM is a long-time expert in the yachting field. He successfully organized the famous French sailing event “Tour de France à la Voile”, led the communications department of a worldwide watersports company, developed new marina facilities in France, and currently manages a 1.000+ berth marina in Brittany (France). Jean-Michel is a member of ICOMIA Marinas Group (IMG), member of The Yacht Harbour Association council (TYHA), member of the advisory board of Global Marina Institute (GMI) and chairman of TransEurope Marinas, the largest European network encompassing 80 marinas in 11 countries. He is also acting as a marketing and development consultant for marinas and waterside activities.

 

Alkman Granitsas

Alkman Granitsas is a communications expert with 25 years experience in international media including The Wall Street Journal, CNN, CNBC, BusinessWeek and Reuters. In 2015, he founded Kyklos Associates, an Athens-based boutique communications consultancy with clients in Europe and the Middle East, focusing on business and political communications.
Prior to that, he served eight years as Greece & Cyprus bureau chief for The Wall Street Journal directing a team of journalists in two countries and helping coordinate coverage of the European financial crisis.
Before coming to Greece, he worked for almost a decade in Hong Kong and Singapore as a journalist for major international media and also providing consulting services for leading global clients in the financial services industry.
After graduating from Georgetown University with a degree in international economics, he began his career as a journalist in Washington, D.C. covering government affairs and politics. His areas of expertise include international trade policy, economics and finance.

Aris Xenofos

Aris Xenofos is the Executive Chairman of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF).
He was born in 1963. He has professional experience of many years in the financial sector and fund management. He has served as Deputy General Manager at Alpha Asset MFMC (Greece) and Chief Executive Officer at Eurobank Asset MFMC (Greece).
Internationally, Me. Xenofos has served as Chairman at Eurobank FMC SA in Luxembourg and Chairman at EFG Eurobank MFMC SAI SA in Romania. In 2015 he took over the position of the Chief Executive Officer of the Hellenic Financial Stability Fund (HFSF) and successfully concluded the 3rd recapitalization of the Greek banking sector. He joined HRADF in November 2017 and he was appointed Chairman of the BoD.
He has also served as a member in a number of executive committees of Eurobank, as the Chairman of the Hellenic Fund and Asset Management Association (HFAMA) and as a Member of the BoD of Athens Stock Exchange.
Mr. Xenofos holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Economics, with Honors, from Athens University of Economics and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Economics from London School of Economics and Political Science.

Nabil Farhat

Nabil Farhat, holder of Lebanese and British nationality, graduated from the faculty of commerce of the Cairo University in 1975. He has been a publisher and editor-in-chief of the World of Yachts magazine (Alam AlYoukhout in Arabic) since early 1993. Awarded by UCINA with the “The Boating Pioneer 2016 Award” in the category of Foreign Journalist. Member of the Yachting Journalist Association (YJA) in UK and executive committee member of the Arab Marine Industries Association (AMIA). Nabil has launched and organised from 2002 several conferences in the Middle East and the Gulf region covering marinas & seafront developments.

For the past 25 years Thanos Belalidis has been exploring ways to promote a sustainable and caring world. Today he is an accomplished project manager and advertiser, focused exclusively on Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Contribution projects.
Ηe is a founding member of “Sympraxis Team”, an agency with 17 years of experience in operational planning, fundraising, project management and communication of environmental and social projects.  Sympraxis Team has supported more than 300 initiatives, worth about 25.000.000€, funded by 100 businesses, 7 foundations, the European Commission and other institutions.
Thanos is particularly proud for his contributions to projects such as:

  • The “school that you want” initiative, renovating schools, on behalf of Coca Cola 3Ε.

Robert Brown

Robert Brown began his construction career as a concrete and masonry contractor. In 1988, the Florida-licensed General Contractor founded GCM Contracting, which initially specialized in residential construction. In 2000, the company began doing tilt wall construction, focusing on commercial and industrial projects. Gary Groenewold

Captain Gary Groenewold, CMM is Vice President, for Westrec Marinas, one of the largest Marina owner/operators in the United States.  Responsible for all operations and business development throughout Florida, the Caribbean, South, and Central America, he has over 20 years’ experience working on marina development and consulting projects which encompassed the design, construction, and operation of a variety of marina facilities offering both wet and dry storage and their ancillary amenities.
Gary has served on the Executive Board of the International Superyacht Society (ISS) since 2004.  He is an active member of the Marine Industries Association of South Florida (MIASF), American Boat Builders and Repairers Association (ABBRA), and the International Marina Institute.  Gary is the former Chairman Emeritus of the Association of Marina Industries (AMI) and a recent member of the Board of the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA).  He holds a 500 gross ton captain’s license and is the Vice Chairman of the International Marinas Group (IMG) of the International Council of Marine Associations (ICOMIA).

Colin Bransgrove

Executive Officer, Marina Industries Association

Colin Bransgrove is the executive officer of the Marina Industries Association Ltd (MIA). He commenced this role in 2008. MIA is the peak industry body for the marina industries with a growing membership across the wider Asia/Pacific region. Membership has grown to 300 at an average of 4% per annum since 2008. MIA has a clear focus on the provision of marina industries education, accreditation and research.
Colin has played a lead role in managing MIA’s long standing relationship with the Recreational Marine Research Center, Michigan State University, USA. The collaboration has resulted in eight years of groundbreaking marina research focused on the economic, social and environmental performance of marinas in Australia.
Prior to his role with MIA Colin was CEO of another peak industry organisation on the back of heading up a number of tourism associations during a diverse 25 year career within the tourism industry. Positions included director industry development with Tourism New South Wales and director of a successful start-up adventure travel business.
Colin has a degree in Education and a Master of Business in Tourism Development.

Oscar Siches

With navy school background and as an offshore racing and cruising yachtsman, Oscar Siches has broad experience in the boating industry. He has skippered sail and power yachts in South America, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.
Partner and manager of two marinas in Mallorca (Spain) for nearly 20 years, Oscar is a consultant for design and operations of marina projects in various countries, and a designer of customized marina elements. His latest “baby” is the Marasi marina at the Dubai canal, which was completed in November 2017.
He is a Certified Marina Manager, honorary Certified Marina Professional, one of the founding directors of the Global Marina Institute and member of ICOMIA’s Marinas Committee, PIANC RecCom, Spanish expert in yacht harbors at the ISO organization and founding member of the Asia Pacific Superyacht Association. He is also a marina inspector for the International Marine Certification Institute.
Oscar Siches has given more than 40 speeches in marina conferences and seminars in more than 10 countries, including the last four World Marina Conferences and is a contributing writer for Marina World and the Mallorcan Nautical magazine Gaceta Náutica, where he has his column “Messages in a Bottle”.

Andrea Razeto

President, ICOMIA

Andrea Razeto is vice-president of the Italian Marine Industry Association-UCINA and president of ICOMIA. Andrea has been involved in the marine industry since 1990, when he began running a family business in northern Italy, which specialised in the manufacture of marine hardware for yachts and ships. The door locks, handles and cabinet hardware that his company manufactured were used by boat builders the world over.
Andrea has been a member of the ICOMIA Executive Committee since 2012 and was elected as president in June 2018. His term will run until June 2020. It was important to him that he got more involved with ICOMIA in order to serve the industry on an international level. At the time, he was also a member of the METSTRADE Exhibitors Committee. Andrea said: “I am proud to be part of ICOMIA, which achieves these aims by removing technical and trading barriers, making boating easier and safer by harmonizing rules and encouraging the sharing of market information. Together these activities make ICOMIA the most influential organization in our industry”.
Andrea grew up at the Italian Riviera and is a boating enthusiast. He is passionate about encouraging more people –especially youth– to take up this wonderful hobby, which is key for the growth of the marine industry.

Grigoris Stergioulis

Chairman & CEO, Enterprise Greece

Grigoris Stergioulis was appointed chairman of Enterprise Greece in June 2018. He is a chemical engineer and holds a master’s degree in Advanced Integrated Design from the Houldsworth School of Applied Sciences, University of Leeds in the UK, from where he graduated with distinction. He has extensive professional experience in the oil industry and has worked in various companies both in Greece and abroad.
Since 1984 he has held various managerial positions in different areas of the Hellenic Petroleum Group. He was a member of the management team responsible for the upgrade of the Aspropyrgos refinery during the period 1984-1987, where he was assigned several design and process activities, mainly in process control and production optimization. During the period 2008-2014, he was the project coordinator for the upgrade of the Elefsina refinery.
In May 2015, Mr Stergioulis was appointed as managing director of Hellenic Petroleum SA, a position he held for three years.
He has published several technical articles on topics such as process control, optimization and advanced control systems. He is the author of a book entitled The Oil Market in Southeast Europe, published by the Institute of Energy of South-East Europe and the Greek General Confederation of Labor. He has participated as a speaker in many conferences.
Since February 2017, Mr Stergioulis sits as a councilor of the General Council of the Bank of Greece, while in June 2018 he was appointed to the board of directors of LARCO.

Nanke den Daas

Nanke den Daas is CEO of Den Daas Recreation, a family owned company, specialized in the development, acquisition and exploitation of high quality leisure projects with focus on marinas in The Netherlands. Having a degree in Biochemistry and Veterinary Medicine, she started her career in research and development in the cattle industry. In 2004 she succeeded her father as CEO of Den Daas Recreation. Ulrich Heinemann

CEO, International Marine Certification Institute (IMCI)

Ulrich (Uli) Heinemann is a graduated naval architect from RWTH Aachen University in Aachen, Germany.
Being an active sailor since the age of 10 he is since 1996 the CEO of the International Marine Certification Institute (IMCI) in Brussels, Belgium. IMCI is the market leader in CE-certification according to the Recreational Craft Directive 2013/53/EU.
He is active on several technical committees of CEN and ISO.
Uli chairs the Recreational craft Sectoral Group (RSG) in Brussels which is working under the umbrella of the EU Commission and chairs the technical committee of the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA) – both in Brussels.
He is the EU Senior Inspector of the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), Chicago, IL and member of the ABYC Technical Board, Annapolis, MD – both in the USA.
In his role as the convenor of ISO TC 228 WG 8 he deals with a set of ISO standards to define the quality level of marinas for small craft as well as for superyachts.

Udo Kleinitz

Secretary-general, International Council of Marine Industry Associations

Udo Kleinitz is the International Council of Marine Industry Associations’ (ICOMIA) secretary-general. He holds the German master craftsman qualification in boatbuilding, which he obtained having worked for 15 years in yards at the lakes in the Munich area.
In 2008 Udo relocated to UK after being appointed as technical manager at ICOMIA – a post he held for five years, before leaving to join British Marine as head of technical services.
Udo returned to ICOMIA in June 2015 as secretary-general; his extensive industry knowledge and expertise enables ICOMIA to continue to represent the global marine industry.
An avid sailor, Udo spends his summer weekends on the water cruising the UK south coast and the English Channel.

Klaus Peters is a Brazilian entrepreneur dedicated to waterfront development and marinas in his homeland.
Graduated from architecture school in New York (USA), holds an MBA from INSEAD (France).
An avid advocate to have marinas recognized and classified as infrastructure necessary to sustainably explore valuable natural resources by granting access to and from the water.
In the past decade he has been actively involved in governmental and non-governmental initiatives to revise regulations for the implementation and operation of marinas in order to expedite the licensing process and ensure the much needed preservation of the environment.
Founding member of the Nautical Forum of the State of Rio de Janeiro and member of the Sao Paulo State Nautical Forum and the National Working Group for Nautical Tourism.
He has sailed competitively in many classes –from windsurfers and multihulls to offshore racing– and organized numerous events to promote sailing in Brazil.

Donald R. Sadoway

John F. Elliot Professor of Materials Chemistry
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

Donald R. Sadoway is the John F. Elliott Professor of Materials Chemistry in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His B.A.Sc. in Engineering Science, M.A.Sc. in Chemical Metallurgy, and Ph.D. in Chemical Metallurgy are all from the University of Toronto. He joined the MIT faculty in 1978. The author of over 170 scientific papers and holder of 25 U.S. patents, his research is directed towards the development of rechargeable batteries as well as environmentally sound technologies for metals extraction. He is the founder of two companies, Ambri and Boston Electrometallurgical.
