Travelling and yachting are amongst Mr Lalvani’s greatest passions, and having had the opportunity to pursue both wholeheartedly he then discovered Phuket and fell in love.
At the time, Phuket was in its early stage of development but it had all the elements for the perfect yachting destination and Mr Lalvani saw an immense opportunity. Royal Phuket Marina is the result of his ambition to put Phuket on the map as an international yachting and lifestyle destination on par with many of the world’s most coveted destinations.
Having chosen the perfect site, strategically located on Phuket’s east coast, Royal Phuket Marina broke ground in 2004 and undeterred by the tsunami in December 2004 Mr Lalvani continued full steam ahead. The outcome is evident for all to see today: A multi award-wining marina and the only 5 Gold Anchor marina in Thailand; a residential community of luxury villas, condominiums and the world’s first Aquaminiums; retail, businesses and offices; a world-class health club; floodlit tennis courts; and Phuket’s largest independent Exhibition and Conference Centre.
Nearing full occupancy year-round, and continuing to receive enquiries from yacht owners all around the world, Royal Phuket Marina recently expanded with the addition of a second dry stack storage and now has a total capacity for 296 boats up to 35 metres with 24/7 year-round access.
An entrepreneur at heart, Mr Lalvani will soon begin on Phase V of Royal Phuket Marina, which, in his visionary style, will again deliver something that Phuket has never before seen.
